Question: What's with the "beat up boxes."
Don't you guys take care of your inventory?
I don't want to buy something that's
been
kicked around!! Answer: Those beat up boxes are your key to saving big bucks! You see, StarWeb Corp.'s uses its strength in three important areas to bring you great deals! These areas are: 1 - Buy-outs. We go in and buy out large lots of goods from close outs, liquidations and inventory from stores going out of business. Sometimes this inventory, which has never been sold to the consumer, has been moved around a few times and the boxes can be kind of shelf worn. 2 - Refurbished Goods. Ever wonder what happens to something that gets returned when it doesn't work or fails the initial factory testing? For many inexpensive things, they get tossed out, but for bigger, more costly items they get refurbished. What this means is that returned computer, DVD player or what ever has been repaired and them inspected and tested by a bench tech, who has corrected the initial problems (which sometimes are just user error and not a real problem). Unlike the automated "Quality Assurance" that most manufacturing lines provide, your "refurbished unit" get a more thorough inspection by an actual person, providing you with more peace of mind. These items must then sold as refurbished, as the law prohibits them as being sold as "new." To differentiate "refurbished units" from new, many manufacturers package them in a plan brown box, instead of a colorful "retail" package. They have to worry about being seen as "competing" with the folks that sell their products at retail prices (but we don't!) 3 - Special deals and value added services - In some cases, merchandise becomes available at a good price because we have the flexibility to act quickly. Perhaps a contact wants to make a large purchase of an item and can get an even better price with increased volume. By working with StarWeb and spitting the larger order, they can get better prices and StarWeb gets another excellent deal that can be passed along to you, our loyal customers. Question: What about a warranty? Sure this sounds good, but what if I have a problem? Answer: On just about any item from StarWeb you have a standard "defective out of the box" period where you can return it to us. This is usually a 10 day period. If you ever have a problem, just contact us and together we can determine the best way to proceed. Sometimes, we can replace a piece, like a keyboard, and not require the entire unit to be returned. At StarWeb Corp, we pride ourselves on being friendly and easy to work with, so just give us a call and we'll work it out. Also, we never want to leave our customers high and dry, but because of the way that we buy merchandise, manufacturers warranties can vary from item to item. Most warranties come one of a few flavors: Refurbished units: These generally come with a manufacturer's warranty and are the same as if the product had been purchased as new. For example, if you purchased a Samsung Electronics YEPP MP3 player, you would get a one year Samsung warranty, just as if you had purchased a new unit. Close-out units: These vary widely. If the close out is a store, then often the manufacturers warranty applies. These could vary, but are usually 90 days to 1 year. If the merchandise is from a manufactures close out, often there is no warranty from them available. StarWeb will state the warranty at the time of the sale. As-is sales: Some sales are as-is and come with no warranty. When this is the case, we are very clear on it and the price is usually nothing short of spectacular, but if the unit does not work, you are on your own. For those who want to tinker, these can be excellent, excellent values! And just because a unit is as-is, don' t assume that it's not working. In most of these case, we didn't get a warranty when we purchased and haven't had the time (or margin) to test every unit in the purchase. We pass the savings along, but with a bit of the risk, too. Many times buying two or three at a excellent price (with the idea that the extra units are for spare parts) still provides you with a tremendous value! The StarWeb Fix or Replace Warranty: On some items we sell, you'll see that we have added our own StarWeb warranty. That means that even though there is no manufacturer's support, we stand behind it and can usually provide services for a period of time. During the warranties term, it works this way: If we can fix it or replace a defective component, like a keyboard, that's what we do. If we can't fix it and we still have inventory of that items, we'll replace it with one that works. If we don't have any more stock of the item, we'll try and replace it with a unit of similar cost and function. The StarWeb Warranty will have a term that varies by item. Be sure to ask for the details when you make a purchase. Question: How do I get in touch with you guys? Answer: You can contact us via the normal channels of email or phone.
